
Richard Phillips has appeared on ITV's new daytime 25 part food series called 'Too Many Cooks' as one of three chefs in the series who judge members of the public on their culinary skills, and can be seen regularly on UKFood's daily live show 'Great Food Live' and 'Taste'. He also recently started a daily series on ITV with Anthony Worral Thompson called ‘daily cooks’.
Richard is the chef/patron of 'Thackeray's' in Tunbridge Wells, one of the best restaurants in Kent which gained a Michelin star in it's first year and holds 3 AA rosettes for its culinary expertise. He describes his food as "Modern French Cuisine producing unique dishes with complimenting flavours, textures and colours. I believe in adhering to traditional culinary techniques whilst modernising the execution and sometimes introducing the unexpected."
He is also a partner and executive chef in the fine dining restaurant 'Hengist' in Aylesford.
Richard started his award-winning food career under the wing of Albert and Michel Roux as by far the youngest Commis Chef at Le Gavroche in London. He worked his way up to Chef Tournant. It was during his time at Le Gavroche he was asked by Albert Roux to spend 8 months working in there Hotel in Courchevel, France.
Richard was then asked to work within the Marco Pierre White empire of top London restaurants, overseeing the kitchens of such famous restaurants as The Oak Room (3 star) and The Mirabelle (1 star) The Criterion and Les Saveurs in central London.
